How the video works

Streams are peer-to-peer over WebRTC, which keeps latency low and means your video is not sitting on a server somewhere. Your browser will ask for camera and microphone permission the first time. That prompt comes from the browser, not from us, and you can withdraw it whenever you like.

On a weak connection, drop to voice only. It uses a fraction of the bandwidth and keeps the conversation going when video will not hold.

Before you switch the camera on

Check what is in frame behind you, and keep identifying details such as post, documents or a view of your street out of shot. Recording other people without their agreement is against the rules and, in many places, against the law.
