You and I both know basic manners aren’t rocket science, no matter what kind of site this is. The problem is the same handful of clowns who act like they’re above basic decency, and the platform just lets it slide. Why? Because keeping warm bodies online is more important than keeping the space safe.
User retention beats user protection every single time, and they don’t even pretend otherwise.
I stopped wasting my time preaching about respect. It’s pointless — no one cares, and no one changes. Everyone would rather ignore the mess and go with bandaid approach like small time mutes etc than deal with the source, because actually kicking out the toxic users would mean taking responsibility instead of hiding behind empty warnings and “community guidelines.”
And let’s not kid ourselves: until the operators start valuing ethics over traffic metrics, nothing improves. It won’t get safer, it won’t get cleaner, it’ll just keep festering while they slap on PR statements about “safety” and hope no one notices how bad it actually is.
