Whole consumption economy is based on it. So we need it.
Now question of why ?
Cardinal desire : Its a need of species to procreate in order to survive.
Social : in order to ensure social order we created marriage institution. Otherwise it would have been natural selection, we call Love now a days.
Mental: here things become wild. Varied things we desire in sex and our imagination is boundless. Thus we arrive her at this place to alteast talk about it and some may even try.
Now the sin part, i think when we made social order there was someone who didn't get it, so "sour grapes" , called it sin.
Can we live without it, yes sure we can, and very happily.
So enjoy sex if you are getting it.
