I wanted to buy a sunflower.
They glow just like their name suggests, brightening up any room maybe even an entire street, when you spot one sitting proudly in a flower shop.
I asked the shopkeeper how much one would cost.
“₹400,” he said, because they were rare this season.
So I walked out with a cauliflower instead.
And no, this isn’t the start of a bad joke.
On my way home, I got hungry.
I chopped the cauliflower into small pieces, tossed it into a pan with some garlic and carefully chosen spices.
As it cooked, the scent filled the kitchen.
The soft, juicy cauliflower hit my tastebuds like it was exactly what they’d been waiting for.
Sure, it took a bit of effort
but honestly, I don’t remember a sunflower ever tasting that good.
