When “Tomorrow” Never Came
Have you ever wondered how strange a silence can become when someone who once felt impossible to lose suddenly becomes unreachable?
There was a time when even a few hours without their words felt strange.
They never left me unspoken for more than 24 hours.
Their presence had somehow become woven into everyday life — into thoughts, conversations, quiet moments, even dreams.
And then, somehow…
24 hours became 24 days.
The person who once felt almost unavoidable became silence.
But perhaps the deepest sadness isn't the silence itself.
It's the person who remains on the other side of it.
Still loving.
Still longing.
Still carrying the same unspoken thoughts.
Still holding the same unfinished conversations.
Still dreaming about the things they once imagined together.
Nothing changed inside that heart.
The hope remained.
The love remained.
The longing remained.
Only time kept moving.
And perhaps that's the thought that haunts me most:
What if one day they finally return?
What if they come looking for the person they once knew would always be there?
What if they search in all the places where they once found them…
and find nothing?
Not because the love disappeared.
Not because the heart stopped waiting.
But because life sometimes takes a person away before the story between two people ever gets its ending.
They may one day return with all the words that were left unsaid…
with all the thoughts that were never shared…
with all the dreams that were once imagined together…
only to discover that the person who had carried the same love and longing all along is no longer somewhere in this universe to hear them.
And perhaps that's the cruelest part.
The love remained.
The hope remained.
The longing remained.
Only the person eventually didn't.
The dreams that were meant to become memories remained dreams.
The conversations that were meant to continue remained unfinished.
And the words that were meant to be spoken someday…
became words that time could never deliver.
Sometimes a story doesn't end because two people stopped loving each other.
Sometimes…
life simply arrives at the ending before they do.
