The shoreline gives its heavy sigh,
then pulls the restless waters home,
under a pale and shifting sky
that smooths the sharpest rocks to foam.
It does not ask the tide to stay,
nor force the rushing waves to stand;
it lets the current wash away
whatever tracks were left in sand.
For strength is not in holding tight,
nor fighting every rising swell—
it’s yielding to the water's weight
and knowing depth will serve you well.
So let the ocean take the past,
and leave the heavy shore behind;
the calmest waters come at last
to those who let the tide unwind.
