The next morning...
Elena and Elios had already woken up and left the inn to explore the city as the sun shone bright in the clear blue sky, they walked through the busy street's and headed towards the market. A few minutes later Elena and Elios had reached the market and looked at all of the items and food on display, "there is so much to choose from" said Elena as she looked around.
Elios bought a peach from the fruit stall then began to eat it, he sank his teeth into the soft flesh of the peach and took a bite out of it and chewed it slowly. After several seconds he swallowed it, "this is the best peach I have ever had!" Said Elios and then licked his lips, "look here!, a jewellery stall" said Elena as she looked at the jewellery on the table, rows of gold and silver bracelets, rings and necklaces glimmered in the light.
Elena could not resist and bought a gold necklace encrusted with diamonds and rubies, Elios helped her put the necklace on and then stepped back and said , "it looks good on you". Elena smiled and after several moments they continued to walk the busy streets of Thessaloniki, twelve minutes later they had reached a large marble temple and stopped to look at it.
"The temple of Artemis!" Said Elios as he looked at the temple in amazement, "you seem to be very interested in Artemis" said Elena as her long wavy brown hair flowed in the wind. "Yes, she is the Olympian I leave offerings for the most" said Elios, "that is nice" said Elena as her brown eyes shimmered in the sunlight, "I have met Artemis before, she once helped me during my quest" said Elios.
"Oh what was your quest?" Asked Elena, "I do not talk about it..." Said Elios, after a moment Elios became silent and stared at the temple. "What do you think about Artemis" asked Elena, "I thought she was the most beautiful woman I'd ever seen" said Elios, "you should not have said that..." Said a voice behind them, Elena and Elios turned around and saw Eros standing behind them.
Suddenly the ground began to shake and a burst of pink light flashed in front of them, "here she comes.." said Eros, "who?" Asked Elios. Moments later Aphrodite had appeared in front of them, "you dare say Artemis is more beautiful than me mortal!"" Said Aphrodite angrily, Elios's eyes widened as he slowly backed away a little, "oh please forgive me!, I meant nothing of it" Said Elios.
Aphrodite stared at Elios and saw the fear in his eyes, "you shall be punished!" Said Aphrodite as her long blonde hair and pink dress flowed in the wind. Her sky blue coloured eyes glowed as she reached out towards Elios, "mother stop!, he did not mean anything by it" said Eros, suddenly Aphrodite stopped for a moment and said "he must be punished", "I am sure he will not say such a thing again" said Eros.
"Hmm, he must be taught a lesson" said Aphrodite, Elios kneeled and pleaded for mercy as Aphrodite thought about how to punish him. "I am sorry goddess Aphrodite, I shall never say it again" said Elios, "see mother, he begs for mercy" said Eros, "hmph, very well, I shall not punish you, but if you say something like that ever again I shall not hesitate to punish you mortal!" Said Aphrodite.
"Thank you goddess Aphrodite" said Elios as he slowly stood up, moments later Aphrodite vanished in a flash of pink light and went back to Olympus. "You were fortunate Elios, next time you will not escape her wrath" said Eros, "one question, what are you doing here?" Asked Elena, "uncle Zeus asked me to come here and do something for him" said Eros.
"I am sure it will not take you long" said Elena, "I can move very quickly when motivated" said Eros and then he smiled at her. "It was good seeing you again but we must continue our journey" said Elios, "not so fast Elios, I want you to assist me on my quest" said Eros, "let me guess, I cannot refuse?" Said Elios, "you could refuse but it would be wise not to" said Eros as he raised an eyebrow.
"Yes, I do not want to anger your mother Aphrodite again.." said Elios, "then let us go and get started" said Eros, "I shall continue on my journey" said Elena. "Elios can rejoin you after he has assisted me with my quest" said Eros, "of course, hopefully it will not take long" said Elena, "I shall warn you that danger lies ahead in the mountains" said Eros, "what kind of danger?" Asked Elena.
"You shall see soon enough" said Eros, "hmm, ok.." said Elena as she wondered what awaited her, a few moments later Eros and Elios left to go on their quest as Elena bought some supplies for her journey. "Time to leave the city behind" thought Elena as she walked through the streets towards the perimeter wall, several minutes later she had left Thessaloniki behind and travelled onwards towards the mountains.
