Good news for us women
The Commission welcomes the political agreement reached today between the European Parliament and the Council on the Commission's proposal for a Directive on combating violence against women and domestic violence from March 2022. the first comprehensive legal instrument at EU level to tackle violence against women in Political Guidelines to do everything possible to prevent violence against women, including domestic violence, to protect victims and punish offenders.
The Directive criminalises physical violence, as well as psychological, economic and sexual violence against women across the EU, both offline and online. Female genital mutilation as well as forced marriage will be criminalised as stand-alone crimes. Moreover, the most widespread forms of cyber-violence will be criminalised under the new rules, including the non-consensual sharing of intimate images (including deepfakes), cyber-stalking, cyber-harassment, misogynous hate speech and “cyber-flashing”.These criminalisations will in particular help victims of these forms of cyberviolence in Member States that did not yet criminalise these acts. This is an urgent issue to address, given the exponential spread and dramatic impact of violence online.
One key to combat cyber-violence is digital literacy. That is why the new Directive also requires measures to develop skills that enable users to identify and address cyber violence, seek support and prevent its perpetration.
The new Directive also provides for measures to prevent all types of violence against women, including domestic violence and sets new standards for victims' protection, support, and access to justice, for example, by obliging Member States to establish helplines and rape crisis centres to support victims. As proposed by the Commission, the Directive will require Member States to ensure safe, gender-sensitive and easier reporting of crimes of violence against women and domestic violence - including an option to report online. This will tackle the under-reporting of violence against women that still exists today. Moreover, law enforcement authorities will have to assess if the offender might do further harm to the victim and, in that case, take necessary protection measures, such as the prohibition to enter the home of the victim The respect for the victims' privacy in judicial proceedings is another key point of the new rules. Finally, to ensure better coordination and cooperation, Member States will be encouraged to gather the most important data on violence against women and foster coordination and exchanges of best practices and cooperation in criminal cases, including via Eurojust and the European Judicial Network. It is an important step against many forms of violence in real world but mainly it brings a major change in an online world by criminalizing certain forms of cyber-violence. The latest developments show it is high time. Non-consensual sharing of intimate images, including AI-generated ones, may lead to mental health issues and even to suicides in extreme cases; cyber-stalking and cyber-harassment wipes out women from public space. This Directive would ensure that the authors of such a coward behavior don’t go unpunished.
So to the men of the cyber world beware when you think your safe behind your screens and can mistreat or abuse a female.

All countries and states have wanted girls or women to be safe from the beginning and to take separate legal arrangements for them and for us in which we are safe. But while doing this, some of those countries or states have failed and some have passed.

when discipline is not thought at home then rules have to be stern to teach them what they failed to learn in the soft way .

waiting to see who is going to bring directive to protect married men from wife !!

did you know around 48,800 women and girls worldwide were killed by their intimate partners or other family members. This means that, on average, more than five women or girls are killed every hour by someone in their own family per year and it has risen since the pandemic ,Before the pandemic 243 million women and girls were victims of sexual and physical violence. Since the pandemic, this number has risen to 736 million women and girls. These statistics exclude the number of women who experienced anxiety, depression, unplanned pregnancies and exposure to STDS.
So tell me which of the sexes needs more protection when 55 per cent of all female homicides are committed by intimate partners or other family members, only 12 per cent of all male homicides are perpetrated in the private sphere and most of the 12 per cent of male homicides are because the MAN was the abuser
so yeah you just keep worrying about married men who turn out to be the abusers anyway

Need to verify the statistics . Let me take some time for that.
go Ahead by all means but i guess in india it isn't talked about as much over here in hospitals ,news or shelters . i keep up to date on these issues because i have been a victims of Violence and also have worked with victims. plus the new laws by the european commision was in the news in feb .
you can look up also that France on Monday 4th march 2024 became the first country to enshrine the freedom to have an abortion in its constitution
Also a man in England called Nicholas Hawkes was sentenced on Tuesday to a total of 66 weeks in prison. He received 52 weeks for “cyberflashing” which became a crime on January 31 after the Online Safety Act became law late last year
From your reaction sounds like you dont agree with the research and known facts

""From your reaction sounds like you dont agree with the research and known facts"" a healthy debate is always a better way to intellect ,
cyber-flashing
The practice typically involves offenders sending an unsolicited sexual image to people via social media or dating apps, but can also be over data sharing services such as Bluetooth and Airdrop. In some instances, a preview of the photo can appear on a person’s device – meaning that even if the transfer is rejected victims are forced into seeing the image. It follows similar recent action to criminalise upskirting and breastfeeding voyeurism .
tech companies to stop their platforms being used to commit vile acts of cyberflashing

** now i am curious to know , as users in chatroom share gifs and other pictures , though its a sexchat site ,will it still be falling under this cyber-flashing ? or it only happens when some one come up with this issue.

im sorry you seem to be disturbed or upset about new laws and protection of women online and in real life. as Woman myself this thread is about the protection of women made the the heads of states in the European commission but as CO OWNER of the site i think users should be informed of laws and protections in place as internets users but also the fact i keep updated seeing i have direct communication with law enforcement for the protection of this site

disturbed or upset about new laws and protection of women - lol seriously u think so ? im not gonaa argue on that now.

as u said this is applicable here too , that's a good news !

the cyber flashing law was updated a year or so i believe where it takes in account social media sites ,dating apps , instant messaging service (telegram ,whatsapp ,messenager etc ) and chatsites and not just bluetooth or airdrop in a train or bus ,to which the highest victims ratio is women

what would be the best law to protect women from all sorts of violence . if u were given powers what act will u create.

ps: complete in 3 sentences . easy for me to read

Good question but the laws have already be been created in the above subject
The new law criminalise the following offences across the EU:genital mutilation,Forced
marriage, cyber stalking, cyber harassment,Non--consensual sharing of intimate images, cyber incitement to hatred or violence and flashing ,Domestic violence (physical ,emotional and mental)

yeah i read that too .

ok not gona bother u regarding this any more , it looks like our private conversation only u and me interacting on this.

all the time it stays on the topic of the thread it is fine

no but i was a volunteer assistant / helper in a center for abused women . i started doing it after spending 6 years in a abusive relationship . i do have knowledge of laws and rules and even some medical though family members who practice those domains.
As co owner here next to Hades i am the one who deals with legal parts such as contacting law enforcement cybercrimes when we have the odd illegal activity such a pedophillia ,underage etc all things against the laws , we dont just ban the bad stuff we actually do what needs to be done and send in the information to authorities. so i do keep myself up to date with all cyber crimes and laws

i see all the initiatives you all have taken to keep the site clean to an extent .

on ur personal space - i feel sorry for ur past but u have overcome that , no looking back . Now i believe that life treats u good in all form.

Whatever news or Messages or Ads ...
All Goes in vain .. Unless The Person who got affected Come forward and report the same
Many Have Fears in Reporting it ...
Again its Social taboo .. Stopping them ..
And There is no stern actions taken for reported ones too ( Which Causes Insecurity)

Facts and statistics were Just numbers .. Unless its properly reported

This is why these new laws and directives have been signed and agreed on by the heads of states of each country ,which will give more stern punishments ,more access and importance for women to report the crimes
it also makes Women safer.
the first cyber flasher in England was JAILED start of the week
The new laws will also make it easier for victims of these crimes to access justice and obliges member states to provide an appropriate level of specialised protection and support,Member states must for instance ensure that victims can report acts of violence against women or domestic violence through accessible and easy-to-use channels, including the possibility of online reporting, and to submit evidence online, at least for Cybercrimes. Also, when a victim of sexual violence or domestic violence first makes contact with an authority the risk posed by the offender or suspect must be assessed. On this basis, authorities will need to provide adequate protection measures. These could include emergency barring and restraining or protection orders;Violence against women and girls is one of the most systematic and common human rights violations globally. The directive that presidency and European Parliament agreed on will be the first legal instrument which specifically targets violence against women and domestic violence at EU level.
Women and girls are now highly protected by a violence on a global Level and give the highest protections to be able to report no matter the social taboo In 2022, the UN registered 89 000 cases of intentional killings of women and girls worldwide. Fifty-five per cent of these murders are committed by (former) intimate partners or perpetrators from the victim’s own environment. Before the pandemic 243 million women and girls were victims of sexual and physical violence Since the pandemic, this number has risen to 736 million women and girls. These statistics exclude the number of women who experienced anxiety, depression, unplanned pregnancies and exposure to STDS all brought on by violence towards them ,Dont get me wrong i know some men are victims to but the Rate is way more higher for women then men

Yep no denials .. Both Genderes Getting Affected ...
But More is Women - its A Fact !!

Hope Such Punishments will come into Effect India Soon

But More than Punishments .. Awareness Should be Created More to Avoid these kind of Activities
