Epic Legend
This happened recently on a conference call with my closest friends. One of them, Kevin, has been in a relationship for six years. The other, Jithin, is single just like me.
During the call, the topic turned to women and what attracts men to them. Kevin admitted that he still gets attracted to other women, even though he is in a committed relationship. He confessed that even though his sex life with his girlfriend is great, the sexual attraction to others is still there.
The conversation was lighthearted at first. I even joked sarcastically, asking, "Why? Isn't your girlfriend satisfying you?" He just laughed it off with a "Fuck you, bro."
But then Jithin, who is the resident intellectual of our group said:
"Yes, you will be attracted to many people. You may even want to have sex with them. What really matters is whether you let that thought pass, or you act on it."
Kevin and I went completely silent for about ten seconds. It took me a moment to truly process what he had said. But once the idea sank in, it hit deep. We are just like any other animal. However, our ability to process our thoughts and choose our actions is what truly makes us human and separates us from the rest.
