Half an hour later...
Kate and Salazar had adjusted their clothes and rejoined the masquerade ball after their steamy encounter in the bedroom. "Ah there you are Salazar, where did you get to?" Asked Lily, Salazar's sister, "I decided to have a little quiet time to myself" said Salazar, "are you alright?" Asked Lily, "yes I'm alright go have some fun" said Salazar as he picked up a small sandwich.
A few moments later Salazar ate the small sandwich and watched his sister Lily dance with his friend James, "who was that woman you were talking to?" Asked Kate. "Oh that's Lily, my sister" said Salazar, "she looks beautiful" said Kate, "I didn't notice" said Salazar, Kate adjusted her mask a little and then asked Salazar if they could talk somewhere private, "ok let's go into the library" said Salazar.
A few minutes later...
Salazar and Kate were in the library and standing by the stained glass window, "I...we shouldn't have done that.." said Kate. "I understand, you were lonely and feeling unwanted" said Salazar, "yes..." Said Kate, "well we can still hang out as friends" said Salazar, "I'd like that" said Kate, a few moments later Salazar wrote something down on a scrap of paper and then gave it to Kate.
"What's this?" Said Kate, "it's my phone number, you can call me whenever you need" said Salazar, "I don't think I should..." said Kate. "I insist, there's no strings attached, just friends remember" said Salazar, "ok I'll take it" said Kate, a short time later they returned to the ballroom and joined in with the other guests, they danced a little and drank a little more for the next hour.
23:30 pm...
"I must get home can you call me a taxi" said Kate, "I can do better than that, I can get you a limousine to take you home" said Salazar. "You don't have to do that" said Kate. "I insist, think of it as a thank you for coming to my masquerade ball" said Salazar, "thank you!, I've never been in a limousine before" Said Kate, "oh I'm sure you will love it" said Salazar as he showed her outside.
Salazar opened the limousine door and Kate got inside and sat down, "good night, enjoy the ride" said Salazar, "good night!" Said Kate. Moments later the limousine drove away and headed towards Kate's home, "I wonder if Oliver waited up for me" Kate wondered, ten minutes later Kate had finally arrived home and went inside to find everything was silent and dark.
Kate walked into the hallway and saw Oliver sleeping as she passed by the bedroom, "I can't believe he didn't wait up for me..." Thought Kate as she headed into the bathroom. Kate had a quick shower and then went straight to bed, "that was a fun masquerade ball, I wonder if there will be any more events" Kate thought as she closed her eyes and rested her head on the pillow.
Over the next week Kate had been busy with work and tending to her garden, as Kate sat on the bench beneath the oak tree she took out her phone and looked at her contacts. Moments later the phone began to ring, "hello, it's me Kate, can we meet someplace" she said, "of course, I know just the place, meet me at Georgiou's, the restaurant at the coast" said Salazar.
Fifteen minutes later...
Kate had reached the coast and saw Georgiou's restaurant ahead of her, after a few minutes she entered the restaurant and saw Salazar sitting at one of the tables beside a window. "Ah there you are, I was starting to think you had changed your mind" said Salazar, "I did think about it but I haven't been to this restaurant before and I was curious" said Kate as she sat down.
"I like this place and Georgiou's is the finest most expensive Greek restaurant in town" said Salazar, "I know that but it's a little out of my price range" said Kate. "No matter, I'm paying for lunch, anyway what's been going on since we met last time?" Asked Salazar, "oh not much just busy with work and my garden" said Kate, "anything else?" Asked Salazar, "well...my husband and I had another argument yesterday evening" said Kate.
"Oh I'm sorry to hear that, what was it about if you don't mind me asking?" Asked Salazar, "it's ok, my husband wanted me to do something that I didn't want to do, he just kept pushing and pushing me" said Kate. "Oh, well you can talk freely with me" said Salazar as the waiter arrived with their lunch, "I ordered something for you, I hope you like it, it's Georgiou's special dish" said Salazar.
"Greek salad with lobster, that looks delicious and expensive.." said Kate, "it's the most expensive dish on the entire menu " said Salazar. A few moments later they began to eat and talk to each other, as the sunlight shone bright through the window, "it's delicious!" Said Kate, "yes as is my lamb and vegetables" said Salazar as he wiped his fingers on the napkin.
"Here comes dessert" said Salazar as the waiter placed two plates onto the table. "Chocolate and coffee cake for you and a traditional Greek dessert for me!" Said Salazar as he picked up a spoon. Twenty minutes later they had finished their desserts and left the restaurant, "that was a delicious meal but I must get back home, I'm expecting a visit from my friend " said Kate, a moment later Kate and Salazar said goodbye and then parted ways.
Over the next few weeks Salazar and Kate continued to hang out together for three days a week, they visited the lush Eden Botanical Gardens, the Poseidon Aquarium and some other fancy places in town. Then one day Salazar asked Kate if she would meet him at the hotel just outside the town, "ok I'll be there as soon as I can" said Kate and then placed her phone into her pocket.
Twenty minutes later...
Kate had finally arrived at the hotel just outside of the town and met Salazar outside, "I'm here, why did you want to see me?" Asked Kate. "I thought we could visit the museum, they have a new art collection" said Salazar, "oh brilliant, I've been wanting to go there!" Said Kate, a short time later Kate and Salazar found themselves at the museum looking at the new artwork.
"Wait...you painted these?" Said Kate, "yes, I'm a painter as well as a businessman" said Salazar, "They're amazing!" Said Kate. "There's more to see, come with me to the private section" said Salazar as he walked towards the room down the hall, it's just down here in the next room" said Salazar, "I can't wait to see what's in there" said Kate excitedly as they walked a little faster.
As they finally entered the room, Kate saw a painting on the wall and then a look of surprise appeared on her face...
