As Sam and Vanessa sat comfortably in their seats and travelled through the sea towards the mainland they saw a large shark swimming towards the vessel. "That's the biggest shark I've ever seen" said Vanessa as the shark swam by them as it swam towards the abyss, "those white eyes looked like they were staring at me" said Sam as Christy piloted the vessel towards the mainland.
Suddenly the vessel's computer started to act strange, "red alert, hull fracture detected" said the computer, "what's wrong with you" said Christy as she looked at the monitor. "What's wrong?" Asked Vanessa, "I don't know the computer is saying the hull is fractured" said Christy, "where's the fracture located?" Asked Sam, "in the engine room" said Christy, "I'll go check" said Vanessa.
"No, I'll go and check, you pilot this vessel" said Christy as she got out of her seat, Sam sat in the pilot seat as Christy went to the engine room. "Hmm I don't see any hull fracture, must be a computer fault" said Christy as she looked around the engine room, a few moments later Christy went back to the bridge and sat down, "find anything?" Asked Vanessa.
"Nothing, it must be a computer fault" said Christy, a few moments later something emerged from the monitor, "what the hell is that!?" Said Sam as he piloted the vessel. "Shoot it!" Said Christy, "we can't shoot a gun in here we might blow something up" said Vanessa, "if we don't were dead anyway" said Sam as a spectral creature floated in front of them, "shoot it!" Said Christy.
Vanessa drew her gun and fired at the spectral creature, the laser blast hit the creature making it scream, then suddenly it burst into nothingness and vanished. "What was that thing?" Asked Christy, "it looked like something we've seen before back at the base" said Sam, "there must be more of those things down here" said Vanessa, "I hope there aren't any more of them" said Christy.
"Nobody must be allowed to come down here ever again" said Vanessa, "I'll get the people in charge to quarantine the area down here when we get home" said Christy. Forty-five minutes later Sam, Vanessa and Christy could see sunlight shining through the sea, "were almost home!" Said Sam as he increased the vessel's speed, "I can't wait to get back in dry land!" Said Vanessa.
Several minutes later they had reached the surface and sunlight shone through the vessel's window, "it's so bright" said Vanessa as Sam piloted the vessel towards the harbour. "Just a few more minutes and were home!" Said Sam, after a few minutes they had arrived at the harbour and a machine pulled the vessel out of the water, a matter os moments later Sam and Vanessa took their cases of belongings and left the vessel.
They stepped out onto dry ,and for the first time in so long and felt the cool wind and the warm sunlight against their skin. "Ok you two it was nice meeting you but I've got to go, more work to be done" said Christy, Sam and Vanessa thanked her and watched as she walked away towards the market, "well we made it home" said Sam as he looked at Vanessa.
"It's more beautiful than I remember it" said Vanessa as she looked around then smiled at Sam, "let's go home" said Sam as he smiled at Vanessa.
A week later...
Sam had settled in at Vanessa's home nicely and stood on the balcony in their bedroom, Vanessa stood beside him as he held her close and they looked ahead at the sunrise. "This isn't the end of our journey together, it's just the beginning" said Sam as Vanessa smiled, they kissed each other as the golden sun rose higher into the sky and the birds sang as they perched o nthe trees.
The End
