The world is indeed changing in many different ways, some are way too negative and brings concern to the international community, but some are very positive and bring a bit of hope to these dark days we've been living.
While reading the news today I found this headline about Thailand approving the use of cannabis. And why is this a big deal? Well Thailand is one of the countries that has one of the harshest law system about the usage/possession of drugs, having as an example the U.K citizen Sandra Gregory that was arrested and sentenced to death for breaking that specific law.
Something that many people don't know is that Cannabis was used as a traditional medicine in the country till it was banned by the new government back in the 1930's. And since after it's ban, Thailand is the first country to legally allow its medical use.
The news came as a shock since in East Asia are located the countries, as previously mentioned, possess the toughest laws on drugs. Thailand is now among some of the Western countries that are slowly allowing Marijuana to be seen not as a harmful drug that leads to the usage of heavier drugs, but as the natural medication that helps many people.
The new law was called by the parliament as a "New Year's Gift".
What will be allowed?
So tourists should not expect to be able to walk around Thailand without a document that allows them to be in possession of cannabis. The laws are still very strict, but this signalizes as a slow process of change.

- Consumers will be able to carry specified amounts necessary for medicinal purposes, if they have a prescription or recognised certificate.
- Licences for production and sale of the product will be strictly controlled.

- as treatment for chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting
- for improving patient-reported multiple sclerosis spasticity symptoms
- improving sleep in individuals with specific conditions including fibromyalgia and obstructive sleep apnoea syndrome
- Recent studies have found that cannabidiol (CBD - an active ingredient in cannabis) reduced seizures in individuals with rare childhood epilepsy disorders - Lennox-Gastaut syndrome and Dravet syndrome
