Part One: The Night She Walked In
Some stories begin with a meeting. Others begin with a message. And some begin in places where nobody expects to find anything worth remembering.
About a year ago, Vedha joined Zozo.
By then, she had already wandered through several chatrooms, talking to random strangers, engaging in pointless arguments, laughing at ridiculous conversations, and enjoying the temporary company of people she would probably never meet again.
Eventually, her wandering brought her here - ZOZO!
The first thing that caught her attention was the users' list. There were so many usernames that she hardly knew where to look. Some had badges displayed beside their names, sitting right at the front of the list like the elite members of a world she had just stepped into.
Others were familiar to one another, judging by the way they interacted in the group chat.
And then there was Vedha, a guest user among dozens of other guest users, quietly trying to figure out how things worked.
She wasn't entirely sure how to begin. Should she greet everyone? Jump into an ongoing conversation? Wait for something interesting to come up? She scrolled through the chat, reading messages and observing the people behind those unfamiliar usernames, trying to get a feel for the room before making herself known.
Meanwhile, her inbox had already started receiving attention.
Apparently, a new guest account was enough to spark someone's curiosity. The messages came from different people, each with their own idea of how to approach a stranger.
Some approached politely, some with cringeworthy pickup lines, and others wasted no time exposing their kinks and desires.
And then there were the unpleasant ones. The entitled ones. The ones who seemed to believe that a stranger's refusal to respond was a personal insult deserving of threats and abuse.
But Vedha wasn't particularly interested in any of it.
She had no desire to spend her time opening random inboxes, entertaining strangers one by one, or pretending to be interested in conversations she had never wanted to start. The attention didn't impress her, and the messages certainly weren't enough to make her curious about the people sending them.
She preferred the group chat. That was the kind of interaction she wanted: free, unforced, and engaging.
She wanted conversations that happened naturally, not ones that began with a stranger demanding her attention. She wanted to talk because she felt like talking, laugh because someone genuinely amused her, and leave a conversation whenever she pleased without having to explain herself.
So she stayed where she was...
She watched the regulars, slowly picking up on the room's dynamics. Some usernames naturally commanded attention, others seemed to know everyone, while a few quietly blended into the conversations. Everyone appeared to have their own place in this little virtual world.
Vedha had no intention of forcing her way in. She was simply there to enjoy herself.
She had no expectations, no particular person in mind, and absolutely no reason to believe that anything about this room would be different from all the others she had visited.
For now, Zozo was just another chatroom.
And Vedha was just another username.
Neither had any idea what the other would come to mean.
To be continued…
