Today the rain came in,
It took me by surprise,
The sun eclipsed by darkness
The grey clouds filled the skies.

It's happened in the past
So this time I knew
This weather would not last
I was simply feeling blue.

I let the raindrops soothe me
As the tears fell from my eyes
I allowed the melancholy in
I made no attempt to guise.

Sadness will sometimes wash over us
Old feelings from the past
Can resurface unexpectedly
But, be assured it will not last .

The sun will come back out again
And you will shine like once before,
You see, we need both the rain and sun
To appreciate life to the core...
