Never Give Up

There was a time when I genuinely believed I was gifted.

When people around me struggled to learn something, I somehow managed to pick it up pretty quickly. Things just came naturally to me. Sometimes, even I used to wonder, "Am I actually different from everyone else?"

Whatever I set my mind to, I somehow found a way to excel at it. And people noticed. Some admired me, some compared themselves to me, and some probably wished they could be in my position.

But you know how people are. Not everyone is happy to see someone doing better than them.

There were people who spoke badly about me, sometimes behind my back and sometimes right in front of me. I heard a lot of things. But back then, none of it really bothered me. In fact, a part of me enjoyed it. I felt like some of those people secretly wanted to be where I was.

And I'll admit it. I loved that feeling.

The feeling of being ahead. The confidence. The attention. That little adrenaline rush you get when you know you're doing something better than most people around you.

But then, life happens.

There comes a time when everything that once seemed to work for you slowly starts falling apart.

Things that used to come easily suddenly become difficult. The confidence you once had starts fading. You begin questioning yourself. And before you even realise what's happening, you've fallen from a place you once thought you'd never lose.

And the funny part?

Some of the same people who once admired you are now the ones laughing at you.
"Oh, weren't you the smart one? Weren't you supposed to achieve something big? So what happened?"

You can see how much they enjoy asking those questions.

And honestly, that's when it hits differently.

Because it's not just about failing. It's about falling from a height you once worked so hard to reach.

But what can you really do?

Smile.

Not because their words don't hurt. Sometimes they do. But because you know your own journey. You know the heights you've reached, the things you've experienced, and the feeling of achieving something you once thought was impossible.

Nobody can take those moments away from you.

But there's something else I've slowly come to understand.

Just because you've been at the top doesn't mean you'll always stay there. And just because you've achieved something doesn't mean you've figured out life.

When things are going well, it's easy to feel unstoppable. It's easy to overlook your weaknesses and believe you're capable of anything.

But your bad days?

They show you a side of yourself that your good days never could.

You begin to understand where you went wrong. You discover your weaknesses. You realise what you need to change. And sometimes, you learn more about yourself during those difficult days than you ever did when everything was going your way.

I often think of life like the game Hill Climb Racing.

You can't keep climbing forever.

There's always a downhill after an uphill. And somewhere after that downhill, there's another climb waiting for you.

That's how life works too.

Enjoy the moments when you're at the top, but never let them make you forget where you came from.

And when you're going downhill, don't just give up. Learn from it. Build your momentum. Because sometimes, the speed you gain while going down is exactly what helps you climb the next hill.

Maybe you'll fall again. Maybe you'll have to start over. That's okay.

Just don't forget what the journey has taught you.

And above everything, there's one word I always remind myself of.

നേരം — Time.

There is a good time, and there is a bad time.

After every good time, there may come a bad one. And after every bad time, there will be another chance for things to get better.

So never become too proud of your good days, and never lose yourself completely in your bad ones.

Because the people laughing at you today might not be laughing tomorrow.

And the people standing at the top today might someday find themselves exactly where you are.

At the end of the day, it's all about നേരം.

Your time was once good. Today, maybe it isn't. But that doesn't mean your time won't come again.
