When I saw @Brownieeee thread about red flags I got a little inspired to write a poem about my red flag/green flag experiences... this is how it goes...
My red flag is I fall too deep,
Wear my heart out on my sleeve,
Speak aloud my quiet dreams,
Hold the door, say what I mean.
Your green flag is a reckless boy,
Careless charm you can’t avoid,
Shows you off, but shows no care,
Leaves you used, but keeps you there.
My red flag is I stay and fight,
Stand beside you day and night,
Treat you like a queen should be—
Even when it’s hard to see.
Your green flag is a hollow thrill,
All sharp edges, iron will,
Plays his games, he takes his share,
Calls it love—but he’s not there.
And my red flag? I doubt my worth,
Turn my mind against my heart,
Call it fate, a twisted curse—
When the truth is far from worse.
Maybe all these flaws I claim
Aren’t the problem, just the name—
Maybe what you call a flaw
Is something real you never saw.
