Life... These days...

The best five minutes of every month?

*Drum rolls* That magical notification pops up.

"Salary Credited."

Suddenly, you're rich.

You open your banking app just to admire the number. You don't even need to transfer money anywhere. You just... look at it.

For exactly five minutes, you're convinced you're financially responsible.

"I should start investing more."

"Maybe I'll finally buy that craft stuff sitting in my cart."

"Actually... I deserve a vacation."

Your brain starts planning a lifestyle your salary has absolutely no intention of supporting.

Then... Reality logs in.

Rent.
EMI.
Electricity bill.
Internet.
Credit card.
Mobile recharge.
Gas.

You keep paying.....

And paying............

And paying..................

Every payment makes a different notification sound.

By the end of it, your bank balance quietly whispers, "Remember me?"

You look at what's left and think...

"Didn't I just get paid?"

Where did it all go? Nobody knows.

Money has this incredible talent. It enters the account through the front door....and leaves through seventeen different exits.

The funniest part?

The first three days after salary, you walk into supermarkets like a queen.

"I'll take this." "And this." "Oh, this looks nice too."

A week later, you're standing in the same supermarket comparing two brands of detergent to save ₹18.

By the third week...

You suddenly become an economist.

"Do we really need cheese?"

"Let's wait till next month."

"Walking is healthy anyway."

And somehow, every online shopping app knows exactly when you've been paid.

Your phone starts receiving messages like,

"Treat yourself!"

"You deserve this!"

No, dear apps .... I deserve financial stability. :wait:

By evening, I was walking home after work when I passed my fav burger point....
One burger... ₹350.

I smiled. Not today. :heystop:

A little further down the road was an ice cream cart.

There it was.

The same ₹10 ice cream I used to buy after school. It's now ₹40? :think1: Never mind .. I bought one... Sat on the roadside wall.
Opened it.
Took the first bite.

For those few minutes, I wasn't thinking about bills, deadlines, savings or next month's budget.

I was just... happy. (In my defense, I didn't have an ice cream all summer duh!)

Maybe growing up isn't about celebrating with expensive things.

Maybe it's about knowing that even after rent, EMIs and responsibilities have taken their share...you should still leave ₹20 aside every month... for the little girl in you who still thinks payday deserves an ice cream.
Decides to go on friendly coffee date with @Solara ,only in her first week of salary , so she can spend freely on me. I guess Starbucks would be better according to her standard. BTW WB . :smoking:
