Haha fair point! That’s exactly why I’ll always specify clearly from now on whether it’s the first digit, last digit, sum, subtraction, or position-based clue, I’ll mention it properly in the instruction.

No worries! Clue 5 was a bit tricky, so let me explain:
It said “Middle of fright meets the one in ghost”
Here’s the breakdown:
The word "fright" has 6 letters. The middle letters are "i" and "g".
The word "ghost" contains "g", but not "i".
So we take the common letter, which is "g".
Now, "g" is the 7th letter in the alphabet, so the code digit is 7.

I could crack 7, 1, 16 (wasn't sure how to derive a single digit), 4, clue 5 .. I had no idea what to do with it, and then 1 at the end..

Clue 5 stumped many, so you're not alone there. And about the 16 → 6 confusion, I see how that happened. I’ll make sure future clues mention whether to extract the last digit or use the full number clearly.
