I Don’t Need to Be Chosen

For the longest time, I thought self-worth meant knowing that I was good enough.

But maybe it means something else.

Maybe it means not questioning your worth every time someone fails to see it.

Not making yourself smaller to fit somewhere.

Not constantly wondering, “What could I do better so they would choose me?”

Because sometimes, you can be kind enough, loving enough, talented enough, patient enough—and still not be chosen.

And that doesn't make you less worthy.

You don't have to convince everyone of your value.

You don't have to be everyone's favourite person.

You don't have to keep proving that you deserve love, respect, space, or a place at the table.

Some doors will close.

Some people will leave.

Some things won't work out.

And it will hurt.

But none of those things get to decide what you are worth.

I'm slowly learning that my worth isn't something people give me.

So it isn't something they can take away either.

Maybe growing up is realizing:

I don't need to be chosen by everyone.
I just need to stop abandoning myself while waiting to be chosen .

Yes..We should not rely on others to feel valued. That last line is powerful..

If I don't love and value myself, how can I expect others to do so?

No matter where you are, hold your head high and be dignified.

I really liked the thought that self-worth isn’t something others give us. Sometimes, the biggest form of self-respect is accepting that not everyone will choose us, without letting that change how we see ourselves. Knowing when to stop seeking validation is a kind of growth too.
