Her eyes snap open, only to immediately squeeze shut against the rude, offensive beam of sunlight invading her sanctuary. "No," she groans into the pillow, wrapping the duvet over her head like a tragic Victorian heroine facing an untimely demise. The phone alarm chirps its insufferably bright tune on the nightstand, sounding less like a wake-up call and more like an executioner’s bell. She swats at it blindly, knocking over her lip balm before finally silencing the demon device. "Go on without me," she calls out dramatically to her roommate knocking at the door, pressing a throw pillow over her face. "Tell the world I died doing what I loved—lying completely still in a temperature-controlled room!"
