Emotions: The Listener's Dilemma

One thing I've realized about myself is that
I'm actually a pretty good listener.

(Self Praise...! Yeah no one knows me so I have do by my self ;) )

When someone comes to me with their feelings, I listen, I try to understand, and
I do my best to comfort them.
I know that sometimes people just need someone to hear them.

But when I'm the one going through something, I become completely different.

Instead of feeling my emotions, I start analyzing them.

I look for logic.
I look for facts.
I look for explanations.

If I'm feeling lonely, I tell myself all the reasons I shouldn't be.
If I'm upset, I try to convince myself why it doesn't make sense.
If something hurts, I start rationalizing it instead of simply acknowledging it.

It's strange.

I can sit with someone else's emotions, but when it comes to my own, I turn everything into a problem to solve.

Maybe that's why I've learned that

Not every feeling needs to be justified by facts.

Sometimes a feeling is just a feeling.

And sometimes the person who needs understanding the most is the one trying hardest to understand everything logically.

Love, relationships, and even life become a little easier when we stop treating every emotion like a debate to win and start treating it like something to be heard.
