Did u know ? Our Sun's atmosphere(Corona) is another 300-500 times hotter than its Surface.

The sun's surface is blisteringly hot at 10,340 degrees Fahrenheit -- but its atmosphere is another 300 times hotter i.e 2 million degrees Fahrenheit. This has led to an enduring mystery for those who study the sun: What heats the atmosphere to such extreme temperatures? Normally when you move away from a hot source the environment gets cooler, but some mechanism is clearly at work in the solar atmosphere, the corona, to bring the temperatures up so high, which is still a mystery.

The coronal heating mystery is one outstanding question and it is still unsolved in physics. :Like:

Good to read about a different corona while the novel corona virus is still refusing to calm down :Like:
It seems there are theories which try to explain this phenomenon; some of them using concepts of electromagnetic waves. For the keen readers, please find more here.

Cheers,

India is planning its next space mission to study the sun's corona.

Aditya-L1 is a planned coronagraphy spacecraft to study the solar atmosphere, currently being designed and developed by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).
