Lal Bahdur Shastri -
He was a “down to Earth Gentleman" ,
with a soft heart and deeply religious and pious
but not a fundamentalist as we find in other communities.
He was the person who coined the first slogan that endeared him
to the Nation's citizens that was “Jai jawan Jai Kisan".
His soft nature was misjudged by Ayub khan of Pakistan and
waged a battle in 1965.
But other personality of shrewdness was
shown only when Indian forces were given permission to return to
Pakistan in the same coin which incidentally left Pakistan fumbling for an
end which it though would be a cakewalk.
Unfortunately he died in Tashkent in the USSR which hosted India and Pakistan
for a ceasefire treaty. Although he was a soft natured person,
he was tough with those who tried yo undermine India's sovereignty.
