The Rajasthan High Court says yes. (April 2007)

The court allowed a married woman, Manju, to live with her lover, Suresh. “It is improper to pass an order to hand over any unwilling married woman to her husband with whom she does not want to stay".

on 27 September 2018, Section 497 of the Indian Penal Code was defunct by SC.

what is section 497 ?
Section 497 of the Indian Penal Code was a section dealing with adultery. Only a man who had consensual sexual intercourse with the wife of another man without his consent could have been punished under this offence in India.

A five-judge bench of the court ruled that section 497 of the Indian Penal Code violates women’s right to equality and treats them like the property of their husbands. “It’s time to say that (a) husband is not the master of (his) wife".

"At the end of the day an adult woman has a right to decide whom she wants to live with. She can’t be forced to go with her husband against her will".

I think this should be done after their separation legally by getting divorced.

Then you should have mentioned that she filed for divorce in your post. :Like:

Her husband put allegations that Manju had been kept in illegal confinement by lover n filed a case. At that time according to section 497 of IPC adultery is punishable. senior Supreme Court advocate and noted women’s rights activist Indira Jaising supported manju, The court said "adult woman has a right to decide whom she wants to live with" so she was prepared for divorce n ended up that whole drama started new lyf vth his lover. :relieved::Like:
