The state government issued a GO designating July 8 as 'Rythu Dinotsavam' henceforth.
The day is to commemorate the birth anniversary of late Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, former Chief Minister of unified AP state.
Last year, the Chief Minister had announced that his father's birth anniversary would be celebrated as a farmers' day in the state from this year to benefit farmers in several ways.
A GO issued here on Monday said that the decision had been taken as YSR had taken many measures for the welfare of farmers.
However, it is not clear whether the day marks any other programmes or just meant to celebrate 'Rythu Dinotsavam'.

- Agricultral production- food is the ultimate demand for human beings. It is produced from well fertile soil with the hardwork of farmers. Several agricultural produce like cereals, pulses, fruits and vegetables are being produced by farmers.
- National food security- India is the second largest populous country in the world. Day by day food demand is rising. It is possible to provide food to every citizen of India when we have sufficiently produced. Then it is quite clear that farmers plays vital role for agricultural production, hence ultimately plays the direct role in food security.
- Maintenance of ecological balance- Many flora and fauna survive on plants and derived their food form them. In farmers fields several different type crop plants grown in different seasons. Which are the host of several living organism and other flora and faun. This ecological balance will be maintained of the surrounding where the nation’s boundary exists.
