For all of us, Diwali means something different.
The older generation – Missing family members and loved ones.
The matured ones – Waiting for the bonus.
The teenagers – Firecrackers.
The kindergarten kids – Sweets and snacks.
After all, every human being has their own thoughts, expectations and reasons to celebrate.
Even before Diwali arrives, we prepare our budget lists. And then, out of nowhere, a notification pops up:
"MEGA OFFER! LIMITED TIME!"
Our reaction?
"Wow! That's a great deal!"
And before we realise it, we've filled our shopping carts, bought things we never planned to buy, and some of us wouldn't even hesitate to take a loan.
In a true Ulagha Nayagan style:
"Let's see what happens. We'll handle it!"
And then comes the real adventure…
We keep handling it until the very last day!
Diwali bonus – NIL.
Loan balance – NIL? Not exactly!
Money left for purchases – NIL.
But here's something I've noticed about men.
They may not always do things for themselves, but somehow, they make sure everyone around them gets what they need.
Their family, their siblings, their children, their partners… everyone gets their share of happiness.
Because for some men, other people's happiness comes before their own wishes.
Money comes and goes. That's life.
But here's a question worth asking…
What have we done in return for that particular man this Diwali?
What are we planning to do?
He could be your younger brother, elder brother, father, husband, or someone who silently takes responsibility for everyone around him.
If you haven't done anything yet, don't worry.
There's still one month left before New Year!
Plan well. Think beyond expensive gifts. Surprise your loved ones. Make someone feel valued.
Because sometimes, the people who make everyone's celebrations special are the ones who quietly go unnoticed.
Diwali isn't just about sharing sweets, bursting crackers or exchanging gifts.
It's about how much care, love and happiness you deliver to the people who matter.
And remember…
The man who makes everyone's Diwali brighter deserves a little light of his own.
