I could've simply written “Happy Birthday, Teddy.”
But honestly… that would be far too ordinary for someone who somehow became a part of my playlist, my daily teasing, and occasionally… the reason I have to defend myself in a completely imaginary courtroom.
Funny how some people don't enter your life with a grand introduction.
They just appear. One song. Then another.
A random conversation becomes a habit.
The habit becomes laughter.
The laughter becomes teasing.
And then one day, somehow, I'm being questioned about why I was talking to another girl.
And that's when I realized…
Oh. Teddy has arrived.

You know what makes our connection funny?
We don't even need a proper conversation sometimes.
A song is enough.
You send one.
I understand the mood.
I send another.
You understand the reply.
And suddenly we're having a whole conversation without actually saying what we're thinking.
Especially those late-night music sessions…
When it's way past the sensible time to be awake, but somehow neither of us is ready to disappear.
One song turns into another.
One random topic becomes something completely unrelated.
Then somehow we're still talking when normal people are already sleeping.
Our sleep schedule deserves its own apology.
And honestly, your playlist has two personalities:
“Sei Edhavathu Sei” when Teddy is in troublemaker mode…
and “Sugar Baby” when she decides to be dangerously cute.
And somehow…
both versions are equally difficult to ignore.
Then there is you.
My favourite little contradiction.
Sweet one minute.
Possessive the next.
Caring when I least expect it.
And suddenly angry because I said something you didn't like.
But Teddy, I've learned something about your anger.
It has an expiry date.
Sometimes five minutes.
Sometimes ten.
On special occasions, you might even upgrade it to a whole dramatic session.
And I already know the signs.
Short replies.
That particular attitude.
The sudden “nothing.”
And that magical word that apparently means approximately seventeen different things depending on your mood.
But unfortunately for you…
I've become very good at reading Teddy language.
And then comes my favourite part.
The backfire.
You start teasing me thinking you've got me cornered.
You think you've won.
You sit there enjoying your little victory.
And then…
I return the favour.
Suddenly Teddy doesn't have a comeback anymore.
The silence.
That tiny pause.
That “I hate you” energy.
Honestly…
worth it every single time.
And yes, sometimes I deliberately provoke you.
Not because I want you genuinely upset…
but because your reactions are ridiculously cute.
Don't give me that look.
You know it's true.
Then there is your possessive side.
You can pretend all you want that you don't care.
But the moment another girl gets a little too much attention from me…
Teddy.exe stops responding.
And somehow, I find it adorable.
Maybe because underneath that jealousy is something you don't always say out loud.
You care.
A lot.
And whether I tease you about it or not…
I notice.
I notice when your mood changes.
I notice when you're quiet.
I notice when you're not yourself.
And when you're low, I don't need a special invitation.
I'll be there.
Maybe with the right words.
Maybe with the wrong joke.
Maybe with a completely unnecessary song recommendation.
Or maybe I'll simply annoy you until you finally laugh again.
Because that's what I want for you.
Even on your worst days, I want you to have at least one reason to smile.
And music will probably always be one of those reasons.
Maybe that's why our playlists became more than playlists.
They're little pieces of conversations.
Little moods.
Little memories.
Little “this reminded me of you” moments that neither of us has to explain.
And somewhere between all those songs…
you became part of my soundtrack.
You're pretty.
Obviously.
But unfortunately, being pretty doesn't excuse the attitude.
You're stubborn.
Possessive.
Dramatic.
Caring.
Annoyingly cute.
And sometimes an absolute menace.
Basically…
a teddy bear with Wi-Fi, attitude and unlimited opinions.
But that's exactly why you're special.
Not because you're perfect.
But because you're you.
The girl who can scold me and somehow make me laugh.
The girl who gets angry and then eventually comes back like nothing happened.
The girl who teases me and then gets completely defeated when I backfire.
The girl who sends songs instead of saying what she's feeling.
The girl who somehow became someone I genuinely look forward to hearing from.
And maybe I don't say it enough…
but I'm glad you exist in my little corner of the world.
So on your birthday, I hope you get everything you secretly wish for.
More laughter.
More beautiful songs.
More peaceful nights.
More reasons to be happy.
And fewer reasons to activate angry Teddy mode.

And whenever life feels heavy…
remember that there's someone who will still be around.
Someone who will listen.
Someone who will send you a song at an unreasonable hour.
Someone who will tolerate the scolding.
Someone who will deliberately tease you.
Someone who will absolutely backfire when you start it.
And someone who will stay long enough to see that little smile come back.
Because honestly…
that's my favourite version of you.
Not angry Teddy.
Not jealous Teddy.
Not dramatic Teddy.
Just…
smiling Teddy.
So today, pretty girl…
Enjoy your birthday.
Eat something you love.
Listen to your favourite songs.
Pretend you're not secretly waiting for my next message.
And don't worry…
I won't expose you.
Much.
Just remember one thing:
You may be the Teddy in this story…
…but somehow…
you've managed to make this annoying person a little too attached to your playlist.

And if you smiled reading this…
mission accomplished.
If you blushed…
I'll take the win.
And if you're currently thinking,
“This idiot really wrote all this about me?”
…
Yes, Teddy.
This idiot did.
Because you're worth the words.
Happy Birthday, my pretty Teddy.

Now smile.
