People always say, "Don't expect anything from anyone and you'll never be disappointed." It sounds so simple when they say it. But actually living that way is the hard part.

We're humans. We get attached. We care. And without even realizing it, we start expecting not something big, just the little things. A message. An effort. A moment of understanding. Someone checking in the way we always check on them.

I don't think expectations are wrong. They are just silent reflections of the love and care we give. What hurts isn't expecting, it's realizing that the effort we thought was mutual was only coming from one side.

Maybe the answer isn't to stop expecting. Maybe it's to stop expecting from people who keep showing us they won't meet us where we stand. And I guess that's one of the hardest lessons to learn.

Perfectly said! It's only human to expect. We just have to be careful about who we choose to expect from.

It hurts when people don't match your energy, but stopping yourself from expecting the bare minimum is true self-care. Save your love and effort for those who naturally show up for you.

Yeah, expectations always end up hurting. Funny how it's never about grand gestures it's always the tiny things that break you. Guess the lesson isn't to stop caring, it's to stop pouring into people who never fill your cup back.
