Favoured Frenzy
I sit with silence in the late-night air,
My heart staring, quietly yearning.
Wondering if love will find me there,
But all who come are just passing.
And those who stop, eventually,
Are only hoping for a free meal.
To them, women are delicacies,
Not hearts they intend to feel.
If only my heart could close its wide jar door,
For it's hard to tell who’s truly sincere.
But the thought of love overwhelms my core,
Leaving me empty—too clouded to think clear.
Well, let the thoughts drive where they will,
The mind just wonders where to stop.
Only a gem, patient and still,
Can survive a heart laced with thorns.
