Sleep... (Poem I Wrote)

Sleep...
No, no Sir it's time to peep
Open those eyes and look around

Sleep...
No, no Sir it's time to peep
The weather today is so bleak

Sleep...
Let the gear cogs, and the brain wake up
No rest for the wicked, I'll make you weep

Sleep...
Ever so restless, how the mind works
When all you really want is bloody sleep

Sleep...
Write these words, creating a wonderful scene
Lack of sleep makes everything oh so keen

Sleep...
I'd rather be dreaming blissfully unaware
In my dreams I'm king, sat with Queen

Sleep...
No, no Sir it's time to peep

Oh no! Don't you bloody dare!!

This poem is so relatable! The struggle to wake up and face reality after a long night is perfectly captured. The language is vivid, and the emotions are raw. Love the contrast between the desire for sleep and the harsh demands of reality. Great job!

This is more the turmoil of my brain insisting that my tired exhausted body stays awake. I struggle to sleep because my brain decides fire on all cylinders thinking scenarios for me to write about, or the old conundrum of the who, what, where, why, when questions... or the age old 'if this, if that' questions when I'm full self doubt. My brain never switches off so my body can rest up

I guess that's what poetry is though, everyone finds it relatable in there own way. Thank you for your kind words.

Your brain's creativity and analytical nature can be both a blessing and a curse, especially when it comes to sleep. One technique that might help is a "brain dump" before bed – write down all the thoughts racing through your mind, and then let them go. You could also try mindfulness or meditation to calm your mind. Sometimes, acknowledging the thoughts and gently letting them pass can help you relax.

What a witty and relatable poem! The struggle to wake up and face the day is so real. The use of humor and clever wordplay ("peep" instead of "wake up") adds to the poem's charm. The contrast between the desire for sleep and the demands of reality is well-captured. Well done!

Knowing how u struggle to get a good sleep.... I read this poem and it gave me an insight into what goes on in ur mind .. the reasons why u can't actually sleep...
