What if a PORN STAR decided to go to church?

agree with beryl. if church wont accept them, then there's something wrong with the religion. coz church should be there for people who have done wrong but would like to forget it and be good too. but for sure ppl will look at them in a sarcastic way... but we cant stop what others think can we? :)

It's always the people, not the religion that is wrong.

Wait, have you read the bible or the Quran? There's plenty wrong with religion from an ideological point of view. The bible's opinion on slavery for example. Or the Quran and how it describes and supports the beating of women. I could go on and on.

Will they accept them? and forgive them?

Else they gonna keep them away from churches?

Just something popped into my head to ask o_O what if. hmm
IF there should be a detailed confession.. then only GOD knows about the condition of the one who hears that:)

Yes I have read them both. I think one should understand rather than just read it. For Bible there are various different authors of each book. The present Bible, which is according to scholars i.e Gospel according to John, Gospel according to Luke, Gospel according to Mathew. Then again these are scholars(people). You cannot blame the religion for this as human beings make mistakes. I do believe in Bible but Gospel according to Jesus. I cannot attribute the complete Bible as the word of God.
Understand the context or get the proper source. There are many corrupt sites online. No where in the Quran it is written or It supports the beating of women. It is mentioned in the Quran that women are the better half of men. Chapter 4 in the Quran which is about women describes it perfectly. I would suggest go for the proper source.

You can't have read the Quran if you say it doesn't justify and give instructions for beating your wife. Or you have and you've either ignored it or misinterpreted it. It's explicitly clear about it. Similarly, it also gives instructions regarding the treatment of non-believers and specifically Jews. These rules are expanded on it the various hadiths. Do you need me to highlight the specific passages about this because it's not difficult to do. I agree that you can't blame a religion for the actions of people but when the people are carrying out the orders of the religious text then there is a clear problem. Islam itself means submission and the Quran, despite being an important work of literature is nothing more than a heavily plagarised work of fiction - very similar to the bible. Remember, Islam is also very clear about its treatment of apostates (people who want to leave the faith) - kill them. Kill them and anyone who criticises the faith. There are numerous cases I could site here, such as the Charlie Hebdo attacks or the fatwa that was placed on Salman Rushdie for writing a book criticising Islam. To me, threatening violence and death for legitimate criticism of belief system that claims to be peaceful and tolerant does not make any sense. It's an oxymoron.

While doing my MA a few years ago I was fortunate enough to have the opportunitiy to do some work for an organisation called Human Rights Watch. During this time I read testimonies from and wokred directly with the unfortunate victims of this intolernt belief system so I have seen first hand the damage it can have. Be it forced marriage, female genitle mutilation, domestic violence, the treatment of practicing homosexuals, the treatment of women, or simply he fact that anyone that wanted to leave the faith was at risk of death. That is of course not to say that all Muslims believe this is the appropriate way to behave. The majority simply want to practice their religion peacefully and in harmony with democratic values. I'm all for this! But I'm talking specifically about the Quran and the instructions the Quran gives to believers. This is a very important distinction.

Regarding the bible, slavery is mandated by Christianity. There are clear and specific instructions regarding the treatment of slaves. This is either true or not true and if you know the bible then you would know this is factually correct. Again, I'm more than happy to highlight these passages.

The Quran admonishes those men who oppress or ill-treat women:
O you who believe! You are forbidden to inherit women against their will. Nor should you treat them with harshness, that you may take away part of the dowry you have given them - except when they have become guilty of open lewdness. On the contrary live with them on a footing of kindness and equity. If you take a dislike to them, it may be that you dislike something and Allah will bring about through it a great deal of good." [ Quran Chapter 4: Verse 19]
“O you who believe! You are forbidden to inherit women against their will. Nor should you treat them with harshness,-- It's explicitly clear and you have misinterpreted it.
Considering the fact that before the advent of Islam the pagan Arabs used to bury their female children alive, make women dance naked in the vicinity of the Ka'bah during their annual fairs, and treat women as mere chattels and objects of sexual pleasure possessing no rights or position whatsoever, these teachings of the of the Noble Quran were revolutionary. Unlike other religions, which regarded women as being possessed of inherent sin and wickedness and men as being possessed of inherent virtue and nobility, Islam regards men and women as being of the same essence created from a single soul.

Islam is a practical faith that permits self-defence in certain strict situations. Among the most often cited verses is this one: “And when the sacred months have passed, then kill the polytheists wherever you find them and capture them and besiege them and sit in wait for them at every place of ambush. But if they should repent, establish prayer, and give Zakah, let them [go] on their way. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful. (Quran 9:5).
To understand this passage, we must take into account the historical circumstances at the time of its revelation.
The “polythiests” (Arabic: mushrikeen) were those Meccan “pagans” who had declared war against Muhammad and his community. The Meccan oligarchs fought against the Prophet’s message from the very beginning. When they realized that the flow of converts to Islam was increasing, they resorted to violent oppression and torture of the Prophet and his followers. The Prophet himself survived several assassination attempts,
The Prophet Muhammad and his companions patiently bore vehement persecution in Mecca for nearly 13 years. This included a three-year starvation boycott from which his wife Khadija later died. Muslims didn’t fight back.
It became so dangerous for the Muslims in Mecca that Muhammad sent some of his companions who lacked tribal protection to take asylum in the Christian kingdom of Abyssinia. After 13 years of violence, he himself was compelled to take refuge in the city of Medina, and even then the Meccans did not relent in their hostilities. Eventually, various hostile Arab tribes joined in the fight against the Muslims, culminating in the Battle of the Trench, when 10,000 soldiers from many Arab tribes gathered to wipe out the Muslim community once and for all. As we know, the Muslims survived these challenges and eventually went on to establish a vast civilization.
At the time Verse 9:5 was revealed, Muhammad and his followers had begun to establish themselves securely. They had returned triumphantly to Mecca without violence, most Meccans themselves had become Muslims, and many of the surrounding pagan Arab tribes had also accepted Islam and sent delegations to the Prophet pledging their allegiance to him. Those that did not establish peace with the Muslims were these remaining hostile forces that the verse commands the Prophet to fight.
The verses that come immediately before 9:5 state, “Those with whom you have treaties are immune from attack.” It further states, “Fulfill your treaties with them to the end of their term, for God loves the righteous.” Now, in its proper context, verse 9:5 can be properly understood.
This was a guidance to the Prophet at that specific time to fight those idolaters who, as 9:4 mentions, violated their treaty obligations and helped others fight against the Muslims. The permission given in Quran 22:40-41 to fight was only given to “those against whom war is waged.”
Additionally, Quran 2:193-194 declares that Muslims may only fight active combatants. Meaning, even if during battle an enemy combatant asks for amnesty, you must grant it. In Islam, there’s no such thing as “collateral damage,” mutilation, or torture

It is not a general command to attack all non-Muslims, and it has never signified this to the overwhelming majority of Muslims throughout history. Had it been so, then every year, after the “sacred months are past,” (The “sacred months” are four months out of the year during which fighting is not allowed) history would have witnessed Muslims attacking every non-Muslim in sight. This yearly slaughter never occurred. Though the present verse is only one example, none of the Quranic verses that mention fighting justify aggression nor propose attacking anyone because of their religious beliefs. Nor were forced conversions recognized as valid under Islamic law.

For an Apostasy, a Person who is a muslim and becomes a non-muslim ,in Islam there are many cases it does not mean death penalty.
There were cases in which from the companions, The Prophet told, this person who was a muslim became a non-muslim kill him. One of the Companion says, “ Oh Prophet he is my relative please let him go”. The Prophet agrees. So compulsory death penalty is not there. So if a person who converts to non muslim and propagates the state and speaks against Islam and if it is an Islamic rule, then the person is put to death. Just because a person who is a muslim and becomes a non-muslim, death penalty is not the ruling. But if a person in an Islamic State of law which follows Quran and Sunnah i.e constitution is Quran or Islamic State. There is not any country in this world which is 100% Islamic or which follows Islamic law. Not even Saudi Arabia.
Islam itself is an state. Leaving it is considered as an act of treason. In general terms, what is the punishment for betraying a country? It is punishable by death. However this rule applies only in an Islamic Country with Islamic law
The instructions the Quran gives to believers? This is indeed a very important distinction.
Give me one Unequivocal statement or any unambiguous statement in Quran that forces marriage, female gentile mutilation, domestic violence, the treatment of practicing homosexuals, the treatment of women, or simply the fact that anyone that wanted to leave the faith was at risk of death.
Misconceptions about Islam creep in because people learn about the faith from headline news and the internet rather than from the Quran and the Prophet.
I am positive you must have done your search on the web rather than reading the texts. The above quoted statement from the Quran 9:5 was taken out of context. To understand this passage, we must take into account the historical circumstances at the time of its revelation. Then again I would suggest you to Read it from the proper source, not the misquoted or doctored ones.

I think we could share further discussion on mail than here on the forum. Do message me if you are inclined to discuss further.

Thanks

I think discussing this in PM is definitely a smart move. I want you to be right but I just don't see it and my experience of the faith, as I explained, is very different. At least we can have a sensible discussion about it.

Church and their rules will accept them. But, people who feel like they are pure and their soul is pure, won't accept them for sure.
Who will decide the definition of 'PURITY"???? It's we who think we are pure... need to introspect first before giving ourselves a certificate of purity.. its not only the sex or porn factor.

No one who walks the surface of the Earth has or will ever have the power of judging another human being, no matter the mistakes or faults, no one is better than the other, purer. It's insane that even in religion people think they have such power!

oh, well maybe i don't judge, but i like the idea of a porn star going to church. I'm an atheist and have been to churches all over the US and the world ;-)
