Indian armed force is made up three service branches, that includes Indian Air Force,Indian Navy and Indian army.

Indian Armed Force is supported by three para military force Assam Rifles, Indian Coast Guard and Special Front Force.

All of them are controlled by ministry of defence n Thier supreme commander is D president of india.
  • According to INDIAN CONSTITUTION art 53 (2) D President of India serves as D formal Supreme Commander of D Indian Armed Forces.

Article 53 (2) of the Indian Constitution declares: “Without prejudice to the generality of the foregoing provision, the supreme command of the Defence Forces of the Union shall be vested in the President and the exercise thereof shall be regulated by law”.

The Army is under First Citizen (President) so military rule is not possible in India.

Hence, indian army and other paramilitary forces are not controlled by just one ministry,so it's impossible to overthrow the government.
  • Police' and 'Public Order' are State subjects under the Seventh Schedule to the Constitution of India.
Indian police are mostly controlled by state in which they are posted(there are 28 states). LAW & ORDER in State list.

That makes it difficult bcoz indian army is large and distributed all over d india,so even if dey try to attack d local government, dey will have to eliminate d police forces of d state,(dey can defeat police easily but dey can't shoot 15,000–20,000) as it will create a big issue in world.

True

Whats impossible?

Army can surely takeover, the moment it realizes that the politicians are no more potent to save the democracy and see no hope in serving the country under the senseless leadership.

I see quiet high chances of such takeover in coming decade(s) looking at the present batch of politicians we have and the quality of politics being played thee days.

And if you ask who is the most patriotic community in India then surely it is Army because of the way they are trained and moulded into one fine person who is ready to take a bullet on his chest than going for voluntarily retirement, which they can have easily.

The present crop of politicians pretend to be the most patriotic people but actually they are not

Thanks useful information

It took precisely 2 years, 11 months, 18 days to create the Constitution of India. Since it was completed on 26th November, 1949, it is celebrated as the "Day of the Constitution", till date.
