" Validations "
~A rented room
We all do it sometimes. We look for validation—in likes, compliments, little signs that we’re doing okay or that someone sees us. We change how we talk, how we act, maybe even parts of who we are, just to feel accepted. We tell ourselves we’re just trying to fit in, but really, we’re hoping someone will tell us we’re enough.~A rented room
And yeah, it works for a bit. When people notice us, it feels good. But it never really lasts. We keep needing more of it, and eventually, we start to lose ourselves in the process. We forget to check in with us. Like, do we even like the version of ourselves we’re putting out there? Or are we just playing a role to feel safe, liked, approved?
At some point, we just get tired. Tired of pretending. Tired of always needing someone else to say we’re okay before we believe it. And that’s when things start to change. We begin to care less about being “liked” and more about being real. We start choosing what feels right for us, not what looks good to everyone else.
And honestly? That’s where the peace comes in. When we stop chasing validation and start trusting ourselves, everything gets lighter. We don’t need the world to clap for us anymore—we just need to be proud of how far we’ve come. And that kind of confidence? It comes from the inside. That’s real freedom.
