Favoured Frenzy
I never knew I loved you this deeply
until the day you were gone.
Now every passing day
is a painful reminder
of an absence my heart still refuses to comprehend.
You were my star,
my sunshine,
a quiet radiance in a world that could be unbearably dark.
In gloomy gatherings,
your laughter pierced through the silence,
your jokes dissolved the heaviness,
and your presence brought warmth
where sorrow had settled.
Now even the smallest things
carry fragments of you.
A familiar greeting.
An old joke.
A fleeting memory hidden inside a song.
Things I once heard without a second thought
now have the power to unravel me.
Every melancholy melody summons you.
Every worship song awakens an ache I cannot articulate.
Every sorrowful quote seems to echo your memory.
Even the laughter of others
sometimes reminds me of the laughter
I can no longer hear.
My heart is bleeding
aching with a grief that refuses to subside,
