Epic Legend
She wasn’t mine
just a moment.
A glance across the streetlight sheen,
where warm pavement held
the echo of footsteps
and music spilled
from somewhere unseen.
She had a paper cup,
cheap coffee maybe,
held like it mattered.
Hair pinned up like she’d tried,
then stopped trying.
A blue dress. Or green?
I don’t remember.
Only that it moved like
it had somewhere to be.
The crowd bent around her
as if it knew
she didn’t belong to it.
And then, like mist,
she was gone.
No drama.
No vanishing act.
Just one blink too slow,
and the space she filled
was filled by someone else.
She never looked back.
Why would she?
I was no one to her.
Just a pair of eyes
stuck in a summer night,
remembering someone
who never knew
she’d be remembered.
just a moment.
A glance across the streetlight sheen,
where warm pavement held
the echo of footsteps
and music spilled
from somewhere unseen.
She had a paper cup,
cheap coffee maybe,
held like it mattered.
