The Assassin & The Goddess: Part 3: The Bridge

The Atlantean

Epic Legend
The wind blew stronger and the rain slowed down as Athena and Odysseus travelled onwards towards the mountains , they walked across the hills until they reached a mountain pass. "We will have to cross this rope bridge to get through the mountains" said Odysseus , Athena and Odysseus walked slowly across the rope bridge as it swayed a little in the strong wind , "hold on tight" said Athena as the rope bridge began to sway a little more , "I'm sure we'll make it across" said Odysseus as he smiled at Athena.

Athena and Odysseus continued to walk across the rope bridge as they held on tight , the wooden planks became a little slippy as the rain continued to fall. "Be careful the planks are wet" said Odysseus , they walked a little further and then "crack"... Odysseus put his foot through one of the planks as it snapped beneath him , "I am coming to help you , hold on" said Athena , Odysseus held on as Athena carefully walked across the wet planks towards him.

Athena held out her hand and grabbed Odysseus's wrist and helped him onto his feet , Odysseus thanked her and then continued to cross the rope bridge slowly. Several minutes later they had walked just over half way across the bridge , "what's that noise" said Odysseus as the rope bridge began to creak , Athena and Odysseus looked behind them and saw a giant heading towards them , "a giant!!" said Odysseus , the giant shouted and started to walk onto the bridge.

"If that giant crosses the bridge it will collapse" said Athena , "let's move quickly" said Odysseus , Athena and Odysseus walked faster as the giant began to cross the rope bridge. "I have an idea , wrap your arms around the rope and hold tight" said Odysseus , Athena wrapped her arms around the rope as Odysseus drew his sword , Odysseus wrapped a leg around the rope and raised his sword into the air , the giant continued to cross the rope bridge as the rain finally stopped.

Odysseus swung his sword down and hit the rope again and again until it was severed , Odysseus held on tight as the rope bridge collapsed and split in half , the giant fell off and down into the chasm below. Athena and Odysseus climbed up the broken rope bridge as the wind grew colder , a few minutes later Athena and Odysseus had made it to the other side of the mountain pass , "I'm glad that's over" said Odysseus sighed in relief.

They walked onwards across the mountains for a few hours as the wind became colder , suddenly snow began to fall thick and fast , "we need to find shelter" said Athena. Odysseus and Athena stayed close to each other as they walked through the freezing cold snow , "I see a settlement ahead of us" said Odysseus as he pointed forwards , a short time later Athena and Odysseus had reached the settlement , "this place is abandoned" said Odysseus.

"Let us take shelter inside one of the houses" said Athena as the weather grew worse , heavy snowfall became a raging blizzard as Athena and Odysseus entered one of the old houses. They closed the door and lit a fire in the old stove , "it looks like we shall be here until the weather clears" said Athena as she and Odysseus sat down beside the fire.
