UP: 82-year-old woman in Gorakhpur fights Covid-19 by using 'proning' technique​

An 82-year-old woman from UP's Gorakhpur increased her oxygen levels from 79 to 94 in 4 days by lying in a prone position during home isolation.

Amid the raging second wave of Covid-19 leaving patients gasping for breath, an 82-year-old woman from Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh successfully managed to bring up her oxygen levels by lying in a prone position during home isolation.

She won the battle against the novel coronavirus in just 12 days with the support of her son Shyam Srivastava and by following doctor's advice. He spent four days in his mother's room and monitored her oxygen levels 24X7.

Her elder son, Hari Mohan Srivastava, said that his mother had tested positive for Covid-19 in April and suddenly her oxygen level dipped to 79.

"Everyone in the family was worried but despite this, we did not give up. We asked her to sleep in the prone position with stomach down towards bed and kept making her smell mixture of clove, camphor and carom seeds. Gradually, her situation began to improve and the oxygen level rose to 94 in four days. She is now fully healthy and ," said Hari Mohan.

The duo's mother, who is also a patient with diabetes and high blood pressure, is now fully healthy and her oxygen level is 97 these days.
Hari Mohan further said that except for him and his brother Shyam, five other family members also tested positive for Covid-19. Despite this, they all remained positive and followed an Ayurvedic treatment and ate nutritious food.
