Odysseus and his men stood their ground as the bear charged straight into their shields , "attack now" shouted Odysseus as he ordered them to attack the unusual bloodthirsty brown bear. They thrust their spears and swords at the bear as it clawed and growled at them , a few spears pierced the bears thick skin but that only made the bear angrier , the bear pushed it's entire body weight against Odysseus's crew and Nicki a few of them to the ground, then suddenly the bear lunged forward and attacked one of the men clawing his armour into pieces, it's teeth ripping through his skin and severing his veins.
The man lay there breathing his final breath while he bled out , the other fallen men quickly got up and picked up their shields and swords and moved back into formation. Odysseus and his men moved forwards forcing the bear back into a corner of the cave , suddenly the bear stood on its hind legs and growled loudly, it's eyes glowing brighter, "let's finish this" shouted Odysseus to his crew , the bear backed against the wall with blood dripping off it's teeth and claws , Odysseus and his men thrust their swords and spears into the bear fatally wounding it.
They pulled their swords and spears out then watched the bear fall to the ground, it's eyes stopped glowing as Odysseus and Athena walked up to it , "the bear seemed to be possessed" said Odysseus to Athena. "Whatever it was it's fine now , poor creature" said Athena as she placed her hand on the bear , Athena told Odysseus's crew to wait outside and guard the area until she and Odysseus came out of the cave. The crew went outside the cave then Athena's hand and eyes glowed , suddenly the bears wounds had healed as Odysseus looked through the shadows and saw a few bear cubs coming towards them.
"Athena" said Odysseus , "I know Odysseus, I see the bear cubs" she said as she finished healing the bear , "the bear will be ok , she's just resting now" said Athena as she and Odysseus slowly walked out of the cave. They rejoined his crewmen outside and walked onwards through the trees and fields , "I wonder what possessed that bear" said Odysseus, "I don't know, but it almost seemed like it was a god's doing..." Said Athena, Odysseus and Athena kept wondering as they and his crew walked on for a few hours until they reached a farm.
They asked the farmer if they could stay for the night and rest , the farmer nodded and showed them to an empty barn he had built earlier, they went inside and sat down and ate their food and drank their water as they talked for a while. The moonlight shone brightly down onto the farm as they all fell asleep. To be continued in part 6
