I brought home a plant
And thought it'd be a good start
But it just stands there so distant
Doesn't even flinch at my fart
I water it daily
While sipping my coffee
Hoping it'll grow happy and whatnot
But it looks at me like - "is that all you got"
I played it some music
And read it my favourite quotes
But the leaves turned away
Like an unrequited love, someone dotes
I place it in some soft sunlight
Besides my bed, on my windowsill
But it looks tired and so done
As if begging to be knocked off and still.
I brought it a new pot
Even changed to organic soil
But he gave me a judgemental look
Like all my attempts are vile
I waited long for the blooms to show
Done with my shenanigans, it said
"Do you even know how to grow
A non-flowering plant, you brought home?"
~i don't even know why
