My favourite cafe is a quite place, the kind of peaceful place where time seemed to slow down. I walked in, hoping for a calm moment to myself. The warmth of the space felt welcoming, and I settled into my usual spot, ready to unwind with a drink.
Then, I heard it.
His voice—smooth, full of feeling—rose through the room. Each note was soft but powerful, the kind that wraps around you and pulls you in. I couldn’t help but listen, my attention fixed on him. There was something in the way he sang, like he was telling a story meant just for me.
Every now and then, our eyes met, and it felt like there was some unspoken understanding between us. After he finished, I knew I had to speak to him.
I got up, my heart beating a little faster, and walked over. “You were amazing,” I said, my voice a little shaky.
“Thanks,” he replied, giving me a smile that was warm and genuine.
We talked for a while, chatting about life, and the little things that made us laugh. It felt easy, like we had known each other longer than just a few minutes. But even as we shared that moment, I couldn’t help but feel like there was something more.
As I left the cafe...I couldn’t shake off the feeling of his voice lingering in my mind. Maybe we would meet again. Maybe we wouldn’t. But I knew I’d remember that night, the song, and the connection we shared—wishing for what could have been, but grateful for what it was.
