As their relationship grew deeper, he began feeling secure in their love. He trusted her, enjoyed their time together, and started imagining a future they could build as a couple. For him, love meant having someone beside him while still allowing each other the freedom to grow. She loved him just as deeply, but somewhere beneath her happiness lay a fear of losing him. Initially, it appeared as affection. She wanted to know when they would meet next, looked forward to his messages, and felt happiest when she had his undivided attention.
Gradually, however, her expectations began changing. A delayed reply, a cancelled plan disappointed her far more. When he spent time with friends or became occupied with work, she sometimes wondered whether she was still as important to him. He tried reassuring her, believing that a little extra attention would settle her worries. But every reassurance seemed to create another question. Why hadn't he called earlier? Who was he talking to? Why did he seem distracted today?
He still loved her, but he began feeling that he had to constantly prove it. The carefree romance they had once enjoyed was slowly becoming a relationship in which every small action could be misunderstood. She did not realise that her fear of losing him was beginning to create the very distance she feared.
Sometimes, the first cracks in a beautiful relationship appear not because love has disappeared, but because the fear of losing love becomes stronger than the trust that holds it together.
