Halloween Tales 11: The Man and The Monster

The Atlantean

Wellknown Ace
The mad scientist , a monster at night and a man by day
He worked in his laboratory and experimented everyday
He drank his potion and became a monster as the moon shone bright
The monster roamed the dark streets and gave people a fright

The monster claimed his victims every night soaking the streets with blood
As the sun started to rise the monster pulled up his hood
He ran back to the laboratory and changed back into a man
The man made more potions and turned on the ceiling fan

Sweat dripped off his head as he worked hard and long
He'd worked all day and drank a potion then something went wrong
He'd transformed once again but it felt different this time
The monster went out into the night and committed another crime

He climbed atop the clocktower as the police chased him
The monster reached a dead end and things were looking grim
The police had him cornered he had nowhere to go
He stood there as the gentle breeze did flow

The monster slipped and fell off the roof and fell towards the floor
He crashed into the ground and changed into a man , the monster was no more
The mad scientist breathed his last breath
He looked beside him and there stood death.

Gripping tale! The twist at the end is chilling. The monster's demise is a clever commentary on the duality of human nature.
