As the senior crew members sat around the table and talked about recent events Chef Raj cooked the evening meal , "so what's for dinner this evening" asked Doctor Mizar. "This evening I'm cooking rice and mixed vegetables and I've also made some sandwiches that are available now" said Chef Raj , "I think I'll take one of those sandwiches" said Sam , "I'll have a sandwich as well" said Navigator Emilia , Sam stood up and picked up a sandwich for himself and Emilia and then sat down again and passed her one.
"Ok dinner is served everyone , enjoy" said Chef Raj as he started placing the plates of food on the counter , Vanessa , chief engineer Vox and Doctor Mizar got up and grabbed a plate of food then sat down and started to eat. Chef Raj started preparing dessert as everyone ate their dinner , everyone around the table continued to talk about recent events as they ate their food and drank their drinks , half an hour later the smell of dessert filled the dining room and kitchen area.
"Mmm what's that smell , it smells good" said Vanessa , "yeah what you cooking Chef" asked Sam , "oh I made some apple pie , and there's a choice of custard , cream or sauce to go with it" said Chef Raj. "Ohh my favourite" said Doctor Mizar and Navigator Emilia , "ok everyone dessert is ready" said Chef Raj , Sam rushed to the counter and grabbed a slice of apple pie and poured some custard on it as the others waited behind him.
One by one they each took a slice of the apple pie and chose one of the available toppings and then sat back down around the table , "this apple pie tastes almost as good as yours Vanessa" said Sam. Vanessa blushed a little and then smiled at him , Doctor Mizar and Navigator Emilia ate through their slices hungrily and moments later finished every bite , "mm that was yummy" said Navigator Emilia , "best apple pie I've had in a while" said Doctor Mizar.
A few minutes later chief engineer Vox also finished his pie and said "right then back to engineering for me , see you later" , "see you later" said the others as Vox walked out out of the room. Moments later Doctor Mizar , Emilia and Ilya also left and went back to their work , Sam and Vanessa sat next to each other and took their time eating their apple pie as they talked for a little while , "finally got some alone time together" said Sam as he looked at Vanessa and smiled.
"Maybe you would like to come to my sleeping quarters tomorrow night , like a date" she said , "I'd like that a lot" said Sam , later that evening the senior crew members finished their work and headed to their sleeping quarters. The rest of the crew started their night shift as the senior crew members got some sleep , the ship's lights glowed softly and the humming sounds of the engines filled the corridors as the senior crew members slept peacefully in their beds.
The next morning the senior crew members were back at work as the ship flew past a blue sun and headed straight towards the nebula at the edge of the system. "Scan that nebula , anything in there" said Vanessa , "seems to be a a basic nebula , nothing suspicious in there" said Navigator Emilia , "hmm we'll find out soon enough" said Sam , Ilya put the ship on autopilot and joined the senior crew members in the dining room and kitchen area and had a quick breakfast.
Half an hour later one of the bridge officer's voices came out of the communication panel in the dining room , "we've almost reached the nebula" said the officer. "Ok then back to work said Vanessa , the senior crew members walked back to their work stations as they approached the nebula , "I'm detecting some strange anomalies within the nebula" said Ilya , "hmm raise shields and prepare the weapons" said Vanessa as they prepared to fly into the nebula.
"I've got a bad feeling about that nebula" said Sam as he armed the weapons then looked at Vanessa , "ok Ilya take us into that nebula" said Vanessa. The ship flew towards the nebula and slowly started to enter it , the crew braced themselves as they waited nervously and wondered what they would encounter inside the nebula...
