"Red alert , spatial distortion detected" said the ship's computer as the crew braced themselves , "get us away from that spatial distortion" said Vanessa. "I'm trying my best" said Ilya as she tried to steer the sip away from it , Sam fired the laser blasts at the spatial distortion but it had no effect , "activate the deflector array" said Vanessa , moments later Sam activated the deflector array and fired a burst of ecto energy , the ecto energy hit the spatial distortion and weakened it.
A few minutes later the spatial distortion vanished , "damage report" said Vanessa , "the engines are damaged and we're heading straight for that planet just ahead of us" said Emilia. Vanessa activated the communication panel on the wall and said "all crew members , hold on tight , we're going to do an emergency landing" , the crew held onto anything they could as they prepared for the emergency landing , the ship began to shake as it entered the planets atmosphere.
"Get us down safely" said Vanessa as Ilya tried to keep control of the ship , "engines failing in ten seconds" said the ships computer , moments later the engines had failed as the ship headed straight towards the ground. Ilya flipped the emergency landing booster switch just in time , the ship hovered in mid air for a moment then Ilya carefully landed it onto the ground safely , the crew breathed a sigh of relief as Vanessa activated the communication panel , "chief engineer Vox get those engines fixed" she said.
"I'm already working on it" said Vox as he inspected the engines closely and started the repairs , "scan the environment" said Sam , Emilia scanned the planet's surface and moments later she said "the planet is safe for us to breathe on". "Sam , come with me it's time to explore" said Vanessa , Sam and Vanessa walked through the corridors and went to the medic area , "do you want to join us on the surface" asked Sam , Doctor Mazir agreed and went with them to the cargo bay.
Sam pulled a large sheet off a couple of hover bikes and said "how about taking these for a ride" , "let's go" said Vanessa as she smiled and opened the cargo bay door. Sam and Vanessa climbed onto one of the hover bikes as Doctor Mazir took the other one , they started the hover bikes engines and drove out at high speed , they rode across the blue coloured grass fields and headed towards the large monument to the east , twenty minutes later.... Sam , Vanessa and Doctor Mazir stopped their hover bikes close to the monument and climbed off.
They walked up to the monument and inspected it , "this monument is thousands of years old" said Sam as Doctor Mazir scanned the area for life signs. "There's no life signs here" he said , Vanessa and Sam continued to examine the monument as Doctor Mazir wandered off towards the strange plants nearby , moments later Sam and Vanessa walked over towards Doctor Mazir and watched as he examined the strange looking plants.
Doctor Mazir reached his hand out and then suddenly a plant moved and sprayed a cloud of green mist in his face , "get back" said Vanessa as she grabbed Sam's arm. Doctor Mazir fell to his knees and started to cough and choke , Sam quickly grabbed him and dragged him away from the plants , Vanessa went through Doctor Mazir's bag hoping to find some medication that could help , Doctor Mazir lay there on the ground as blood leaked out of his nose and his mouth started to foam.
He began to have a seizure and his belly started to inflate , "there's nothing we can do , let's get back" said Sam , he took Vanessa's hand and moved her back to a safe distance. Moments later Doctor Mazir's belly swelled more and more then...."splurt!"...his body burst into pieces , Vanessa held Sam close as they watched Doctor Mazir's blood and guts spilling out across the ground , "that was....unexpected.." said Sam as he held Vanessa tight.
"There's nothing we can do here , let's get back to the ship and tell everyone what happened" said Sam , moments later Sam and Vanessa climbed onto the hover bikes and drove back to the ship as fast as they could. They finally arrived back on the ship and closed the cargo bay door and headed towards the bridge , Vanessa activated the communication panel and said "attention all crew members , we have some bad news , Doctor Mazir is dead..".
"A plant sprayed something toxic in his face and it killed him" said Vanessa , later that day the crew gathered in the dining room and mourned the loss of Doctor Mazir. They all talked about the time they had spent with him as they drank their drinks and remembered him fondly , later that day around 8 pm Sam and Vanessa walked through the corridors and headed to the medic area , they arrived a few moments later and started talking to the medical team.
"Doctor Thorn , I'm making you the new chief medical officer" said Vanessa , Doctor Thorn held out her hand as Vanessa handed her a new badge. "Thank you , I just wished it had been under different circumstances" said Doctor Thorn , Vanessa and Sam looked at her and nodded in agreement and then left the medic area , Doctor Thorn put her new badge in her uniform and then got back to work as Vanessa and Sam headed down to the engine room.
"Ah you're just in time" said chief engineer Vox , "oh what are we in time for?" asked Sam , "the engines are fixed , good as new" said Vox , "already? , you're a miracle worker" said Vanessa as she smiled a little. "Were all set to take off when you're ready" said Vox as he cleaned the dirt off his hands , Vanessa and Sam walked through the corridors and headed back to the bridge , a few minutes later they had arrived at the bridge and sat down in their comfy chairs.
"Ok Ilya time to take off" said Vanessa , Ilya fired up the engines and launched the ship into the air , the ship flew faster and faster as it went through the atmosphere and back into space. The crew cheered for a moment as they celebrated , "Sam , activate the warp core" said Vanessa , moments later Sam activated the warp core , "how fast do you want to go" he asked , "as fast as we can , maximum warp" said Vanessa as she smiled at him , Sam swiped the controls and then moments later the ship went into warp at top speed...
