A room without me

It's been three months since I last wrote. Every time I open mynotes app, I just feel numb and empty. So I'm writing here instead. I don’t know what I’m about to say, or if it’ll make any sense... but I’m writing anyway.

They thought the roses
Stained the white sheets red..
But it was my blood
Spilled in silence
While trimming every thorn
To make their bed of roses soft.

I wore a smile
Though every step hurt
She looked at me, concerned,
"Are you alright?" she asked.
A single tear slipped free
Not from pain,
But from seeing her happy
"More than ever." I whispered.

The lies go on.
She laughs louder now
Light dances in her eyes
Happiness?
It finally found her
Knocked gently
And stayed

And me?
I'm fading
Losing pieces of myself
Haunted by the truth
That I lost
My only love,
My heart,
My life.

Why is this heart a traitor?
Isn’t this what it chose?
Then why the sorrow?
Why the sting?
Why the emptiness?
Why can’t it stand
By the choice it made?
