The music was loud enough to shake the floor, lights slicing through the smoke and the laughter...Everyone was dancing, drinking, losing themselves.. I tried to do the same. pretend the noise could drown my thoughts...And then I felt it..that gaze!! Heavy. Burning...Like someone had reached straight into the crowd and caught my soul between two fingers...I turned,half-curious, half-defensive, and there he was..A man!!Not one of the boys stumbling around the bar..but a man...Black formal shirt, sleeves rolled up just enough to show veins ...A glass of whiskey in one hand, the other buried in his pocket..I told myself not to care. I wasn't here for this. I was here to forget...So I drank...One glass, Then another and hit the dance floor. Few guys tried to circle around, laughing too loud, stepping too close..I moved aside, pretending not to notice, until I saw him again "The man in black"! Not dancing,Not smiling. Just watching, as if the entire scene was a bad joke and he was waiting for it to end...Maybe it was the alcohol. Maybe my hormones ...But I wanted to disturb that calm..So I walked straight toward him..He didn't move, not until I was right in front of him, close enough to catch the faint scent of whiskey and his cologne . I looked up, he's taller than me and for a second,i forgot to breathe... Suddenly my heel slipped. He caught me instantly, his grip firm, his hand on my waist sending a quiet shiver down my spine...
"Don't drink if u can't handle it" he said with his deep voice,"Girls like you are trouble waiting to happen"..I straightened, meeting his eyes..."And men like u come here just to judge, huh?U dont have many years left, Old man. Maybe stop wasting them with a drink." His lips curved..not a smile but more like a warning...What did u just call me "Old man?" "Careful, little girl. You don't know what an old man can do." I raised a brow, pulse thrumming in my ears. "Then show me."He chuckled softly, and the sound wrapped around me like smoke. "If I did" then he leaned more closer to me,close enough to feel his hot intoxicating breath n my neck and whispered, "you'd beg me to stop."
"Oh really?" I tilted my head, matching his stare. "Or maybe you're just all talk and scared that you might end up hurting ur back!!!"
The air between us thickened... His gaze dropped to my lips, then back to my eyes... and all of sudden he pulled me towards him ,leaned down, voice barely audible over the music.
"Sweetheart," he murmured, his breath brushing my skin, "the only thing that might break tonight… is you."My heart slammed against my ribs. His hand was still at my waist, fingers pressing just enough to make me feel how steady he was, how still everything else had become. The noise around us dissolved; there was only his gaze, sharp and dark and consuming..."Tell me" he said softly,"what do you want?" I looked up almost breathless..."Maybe I want to find out if you really mean what you say.???
His lips twitched into that same dangerous almost-smile.."Careful what you ask for lill girl" he murmured... His thumb brushed the edge of my wrist slowly, before he let go and stepped back, leaving a chill where his touch had been."Not tonight" he said quietly, eyes holding mine one last time.."You're not ready to play with fire yet.."And with that, he smirked.. turned and walked away..leaving me standing in the middle of the crowd, heartbeat tangled with the music, skin still burning from where his hand had been....
