Those Dussehra Days… When Our Grandparent's Love Made Childhood Magical

When we were children, as soon as our quarterly exams at school were over, a different kind of excitement would begin in our hearts. Because the end of exams meant one thing - Dussehra holidays were here!

We would eagerly wait to visit our grandparent's home during the holidays. Even today, those days remain some of the sweetest memories tucked away in our hearts. The love of our grandmother, the affection of our grandfather, and the happiness that filled their home made it feel like a little world of our own.

As Dussehra approached, our grandparents would buy us new clothes. The excitement of wearing those clothes, showing them off to everyone, and getting ready early on the festival morning was beyond words. Back then, we never cared about the price of those clothes. What mattered was the love with which they were bought for us and the happiness on our grandparents’ faces.

Our grandmother’s homemade food, the playful moments with our grandfather, the endless games with our cousins, the laughter in front of the house in the evenings, and the nights spent sitting together, sharing stories and conversations — every little moment became a beautiful memory.

We never realized how quickly those days were passing. We had no worries about tomorrow, no fears about the future, and no responsibilities weighing on our shoulders. All we knew was how to be happy in the moment.

But today, when we look back, we understand something precious…

We were not just waiting for the festival. We were waiting to spend time with the people who loved us unconditionally.

Today, we have grown up. Responsibilities have increased, work has become endless, and time seems to have become shorter. Festivals still come, we still buy new clothes, and life has given us many things. Yet, that innocent happiness we once felt seems to have disappeared somewhere into our childhood memories.

Those new clothes bought with our grandparents’ love may no longer be with us. But the love they gave us and the beautiful days we spent in their home will always remain a priceless treasure in our hearts.

Some days never return. Some people cannot stay with us forever. But the moments we shared with them remain with us throughout our lives.

The truth is, we don't really wish to become children again. We simply wish we could spend one more day in that beautiful little world, surrounded by the people who loved us so deeply, without the burdens and responsibilities of adulthood.

Sometimes, all it takes is an old memory to bring a smile to our faces and tears to our eyes at the same time.

Do you also remember your childhood Dussehra holidays, your grandparent's home, those new festival closthes, and the endless fun with your cousins?

What is that one childhood memory you wish you could relive just one more time?
