The Fifth Sense: A Fragrance, A Memory, A Mystery

Just some random thing from my daily life

I noticed something today while waiting for the lift in the lobby. There’s this particular musky, woody fragrance that I recognise instantly.

I’ve noticed that I smell it mostly on days when I’m on time for the office. And every time I do, it makes me smile.

My mind immediately associates it with a person. Someone I don’t even know which office or corner of the building is in, but somehow, I know he’s around.

Isn’t it fascinating how our minds associate certain smells with people, places, and memories? How a fragrance can take you somewhere without you even moving, bring back a feeling without a word being spoken, or remind you of someone without them being anywhere in sight.

For me, this particular fragrance is a little mystery. I don’t know what perfume it is, and perhaps I don’t even want to know. There’s something beautiful about recognising a scent, associating it with someone, and letting it bring a little smile to your face.

And the fragrance itself? Heavenly. A little musky, a little woody, and completely unforgettable.

Tell me, what does fragrance mean to you? Is there a particular smell that reminds you of someone, takes you back to a memory, or simply makes you feel good? Or is there a perfume you absolutely love?

I’d love to hear your stories. ❤️

Remembering someone with a smell is truly fascinating. Your mystery person seems to have good taste...
I love smell of freshly brewed coffee, i have it everyday still it attracts me.
I like kenzo flower perfume, it is underlying musky, with tangy rose smell.
Playful intrigue...
