I watched from the darkest shadows as the snow fell thick and fast
The wind howled as the puddles became frozen solid
I walked through the shadows as I followed the black and white dog
The dog led me to an old cabin out in the woods
It sat there as it scratched it's claws against the door
I opened the door and saw a woman sitting there on the floor
The dog sat beside her as the fireplace burned bright
The gentle glow of the fire filled the room
The light moved around me almost as if it feared my shadow
The woman patted her dog's head as she looked at me
Her eyes glowed bright blue as the weather outside turned into a blizzard
I stood there unafraid as my shadow enveloped me
Moments later I blinked and the woman and her dog had vanished
The fire went out suddenly as the door opened itself
I stood my ground as the wind howled loudly
My shadow protected me as the windows shattered
I closed my eyes as my shadow shifted around me
I opened my eyes and I found myself standing back where I had started
